Greetings, I'm inserting footnote numbers into my text via Microsoft Word, and am not sure if there should be any space between the superscript and the word, or where to place a comma, or other punctuation, if the superscript follows the word. In a French language document, how do you correctly handle the spacing of a superscript note (for a footnote) with punctuation that needs to be preceded by a space, such as a semicolon? Try as I might, I see no way to add anything at the beginning, or turn I don't know whether this has come up before, but can you start a sentence with superscript? The context is a translation of a medical document, and the word in question is "111In-pentetreotide " (the 111 is superscript).
